The significance of education becomes particularly evident when we contemplate the multifaceted challenges such as healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment, and human rights. A fundamental catalyst for addressing these issues lies in imparting education to children in need. Education not only equips them with the tools for a secure future but also nurtures responsible citizenship at both the national and global levels. Despite the enactment of the Right to Education (RTE) Act in 2010, which mandates free and compulsory education for all children aged 6-14, there persists a notable unevenness in the learning trajectory for numerous children in the country. Obstacles arising from the socio-economic conditions of parents and inadequate learning environments in schools impede the educational pursuits of many children, highlighting the ongoing challenges in ensuring widespread access to quality education.
At Durgapur Sundram NGO, our primary initiative, Mission Education, is designed with a clear mission: to empower underprivileged children through education, nutrition, and wellness support. Aligned with the New Education Policy (2020) and the Sustainable Development Goal 4, which emphasizes inclusive and equitable quality education, our program targets children aged 3-18 facing challenging circumstances. This includes those from impoverished families, differently-abled children, those affected by disasters, as well as abandoned, street, tribal, and remote village children. By focusing on the most vulnerable, we strive to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that every child has access to quality education and the support they need to thrive.
